Customer Experience and Opinions

 great crate!, February 08 ,2010
P. Saini (New Jersey) thinks that:
I purchased the 24" crate for my toy breed dog that should be arriving this spring. This crate is intended for a Morkie (Yorkshire/Maltese Mix). I expect the dog to reach an adult weight of 8 to 11 lbs based on his parents' size. The 24" crate should suffice for the dog's entire life. The included divider will allow me to create just enough space for the dog as he grows (so as to avoid soiling in the crate). Tip: dogs will not defecate in their crate if there is just enough space for them to sleep/stand up/stretch out. I tested this crate with my mother's dogs (a yorkshire terrier at 10 lbs, and a bichon frise at 14 lbs) and both were able to stand up and sleep in the crate comfortably. Also, these two dogs love to stretch out in all sorts of positions when they sleep, and the crate accommodated them well.

On to the crate itself...this crate arrives folded down. There are two clips that hold the crate in its locked position. Unlock these clips and the crate's ceiling and 2 walls lift up creating a box. Then lift the remaining two walls, and you're set. The crate is sturdy when assembled. The pan is sufficient...I see that some people had problems with their pan cracking, but I imagine that it should not be a problem for smaller, lighter breeds.

I plan to purchase a crate cover that will complete the den like feeling dogs love. Keep in mind that you will need to purchase some type of bed to place in this crate. I strongly recommend purchasing the "west paw nature nap" available here on amazon. It costs more than the typical fleece bumper bed you typically buy for crates, but it lasts forever! My mother's dogs are 11 years old and we bought their west paw beds 6 years ago. The beds have been washed numerous times and they still appear new.

I strongly recommend this crate, both for its material and design. Having a door on the side wall allows placement options in my home. I'm currently in Manhattan, New York City, so having this placement option in my apartment is very important for me. The third door is nice to have, as well. I'll update this in 8 to 10 months and share my experience with the crate.

 Poor/irresponsible shipping packaging, February 01 ,2010
The Dogs Lover says that:
The crate itself is okay, though it can be made a tad stronger to fit large breeds judging the size of the crate. The charcoal color is nice. What was the most disappointing, rather upsetting, was the way the crate had been shipped! The shipper plainly stuck shipping label on the original box (as if you are picking it up at a local pet store) with NO PROPER CUSHIONING or SHIPPING PACKAGING - the package came in its box half open, exposing the product. As a result, any one can imagine how the crate appeared as it was assembled -- apparent scratches and whopping here and there! What was even worse was I emailed Amazon thereafter to express my frustration which led to an as-if-helpful response saying I might feel free to return it. Shipping the gigantic item back would probably cost more than the crate itself, I had no choice but to keep it.

All in all, irresponsible shipping packaging and disappointing Amazon customer service.

Big crate holds up well outside, December 05 ,2009
Holly Lauber (Austin, TX) says that:
This crate has some pros and cons to it. I will list off those here. If you'd like to read a little more about my experience with the crate then continue after the list.

PROs:
*It's nice and large. Large enough for a BIG dog and larger enough for a medium breed to feel like they're in a comfy den.
*It has 3 doors so you can set it in a few different directions OR put a divider in the middle and have two dogs in there that can be let out on either side.
*It's collapsable so you can travel with it.
*It's sturdy and holds up against the elements pretty well

CONs:
* It's BIG. This would not be a good crate for a small space.
*The plastic parts on it do not hold up against the elements as well.
* It's heavy. Sure it can fold up but good like being 5'2" and trying to lug this thing into the trunk of your car. It's hard!
* If you have a car and travel with it you will most likely have to put your backseats down, thus redering it useless if your dog is alos traveling in the backseat.

So I bought this crate because I wasn't how sure how big my border collie puppy would be. Since he was 8 weeks old when I got him (and this one didn't have a dividered for growers) I used the smallest version of this crate (with one door) and ended up using this one to house my baby chicks. This crate was sat outside with the chicks all summer in our VEY hot Texas heat (108...105, 110...all summer) and did really well in the heat (don't worry so did the chicks) This crate has been in the heat and the rain and still works very well. The heat did weakend the plastic handles though as I pulled on one and it broke off. Once the chickens got big enough to place in the coop the crate still stayed outside until my pup got big enough for it. He's 6 months old now and I could comfotably fit 2 of him in there. The plastic bottom did crate and the crack does keep growing. I use it still but I place blankets or his pillow on top of it so it's okay. He LOVES this size much better than the ones recommended for him. Not even full grown I have a plastic 36" airline crate for him. I set this crate up and he walked in and out of it all on his own. With the plastic crate the only time he goes in it on his own is....well never. I always have to tell him "Go Crate." and he will then go. This is a great great if you have the space and a big dog.

Customer Experience and Opinions

 Jojo's Crate, February 23 ,2010
Catherine Houston (KILLEEN, TX, US) informs us that:
This crate is great for the price. I looked around some of the stores in my area and they were wwwaaaayy over priced! I have a JRT(jack russsle terrier) and as we all know they are very CRAZY dogs. lol. When she is in trouble this crate works great and also when we are not home. The only problem I have with the crate is the tray on the bottom slides out very easily. My dog is able to push it out every time she is in the crate...most of the time its just when she is trying to move around. The tray just slides out. But we solved that problem by using the divider that comes with the crate and putting it over the door wich makes the tray unable to slide out when she is inside.

 not bad, February 18 ,2010
T. Murphy (Vermont, USA) tells us:
I was pleased that my item was received the earliest day possible! I wish I had a better understanding of its actual size, but the crate is on perfect working order. No complaints, really :)

 Great item, February 11 ,2010
K. Shanks (Columbia, Mo) thinks that:
This was so easy to assemble and my puppy Romeo loves it. I even got one for my Xtra Large dog!

Customer Experience and Opinions

Great for Medium Sized or Smaller Breed Puppies, July 12 ,2009
Christi Dant (Severna Park, MD) reveals that:
Quick, easy assembly...and the grow feature is invaluable for crate training a puppy. However, having previously raised a large breed, I don't think this product would hold up to as it is not terribly beefy. Get out a tape measure to calculate what size you'll need. Don't depend on the size descriptions as they vary from brand to brand. This one is quite size appropriate for our dog who will top out around 50 pounds.

 great kennel, September 15 ,2008
dburden (colorado) thinks:
This kennel has been great for my dachshund. He gets plenty of air and can see what is going on around him. Easy to collapse and fold. Easy to keep clean and sanatize.
