What happened to gentle training and positive reinforcement? When a dog pulls, with a regular collar, just stop everytime he pulls and make him sit. When sitted, praise and walk. He pulls, do it again. It might take some time but you should manage. Forget about this sadistic device.

I bought this collar to replace a metal training collar my australian shepherd out grew. I like that the teeth on this one are not as sharp, however, it still does the job. I went a couple of weeks with a choker chain before I got this new collar and my dog almost pulled me down twice. My dog is very quick on her feet, however, this one is keeping her inline very nicely!!

Prong collars, we are told by the manufacturer, are to be used only as a temporary training method. (i.e, 1-2 weeks.)
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people end up using this device as a long term solution.

There is ample evidence showing that collars that pinch or choke actually increase aggression and fear in dogs, in the long term, and- dogs are at risk of significant neck trauma if a handler improperly uses this type of collar.

If you are contemplating purchasing a collar that pinches or chokes, know that other effective, and safer, training tools are available.

Considering single collars can sell for hundreds I was suspicious of this kit because of the low price. The first kit I received didn't work but I got a replacement and it's ok this time.

The instructions were written by somebody who doesn't understand English very well. For example they describe the antenna as "anti-broken" and suggest you give your dog "socks" when they obey your commands. I think they meant snacks :). It's pretty funny but you can figure out what they are trying to say so it's no big deal.

The collars work quite well. The vibration button doesn't really have an effect on my dogs but the shock get's their attention for sure! So far I've only used the lowest setting and it's working great.

I would recommend this product but just remember you get what you pay for. It's obvious this product is not top of the line.

4 batteries for the collars come with the kit. They are cheap and don't last long. That's to be expected but it can be a challenge to find replacements at the store. They require size 28A which most stores don't carry. I bought 28L (lithium) but found out these don't work. You must use the Alkaline batteries. I had to order more online.

When I read the reviews of others I was skeptical. But I bought it anyways. I am Glad I did... They worked Great, Although the dogs may still bark on occasion. It is acceptable now, and I rarely use the collars anymore...

Definitely worked well on my 6 month old German Shepherd puppy. Made a world of difference taking her for walks and getting her attention when she got excited.

Unfortunately, it is not that strong and pulled part when she went after a cat. This is the second time it pulled apart. The first time it happened, I thought maybe I didn't click the links together properly. But this time, if you look at the links, you can clearly see the plastic deformed to allow the separation. I am returning to Amazon and recommending that they inform the manufacturer.

The starmark is the best collar for training stubborn dogs like my cairn terrier. I would recomend it to anyone. I used it in conjunction with the Dog Father DVD's and got the results he says I should get.

This collar seems to work well without hurting the dog. It is difficult to put on over the ears (which may relate to the following). One reason I didn't give it five stars is that it's just a little too short and I have to order some extra links which, with shipping, will end up costing as much as the collar itself.
