Customer Experience and Opinions

 Works great, March 11 ,2010
STB (New Mexico) reveals that:
Fits well. Works great. A few quick zaps along with a strong "No" and he behaves nicely the rest of the walk.

 Works well, March 10 ,2010
L. Blair reveals that:
Works well on my dog. Nearly all the time all I need to do is remind her with a buzz (the sound). This has worked wonders to get her to stop scratching the back door, barking incessantly while outside, and digging holes all over the place. I was about to give up hope for her to learn how to behave outside alone, but this device is really working. Now, I'm just wondering how to get her to not dash out the front door every time it's opened!

OK but doesn't do the distance, March 07 ,2010
Oh Oh (Seattle) thinks:
Supposed to work up to 100yards, it only works up to maybe 75feet. But it does work well within that range.

Customer Experience and Opinions

 Very pleased..., January 12 ,2010
Terry (United States) says that:
Just received this unit today and haven't had a chance to try it on the dogs yet, but will update this review after I use the unit for training.

This unit arrived very quickly, and works perfectly at a good distance according to the included and my own test lights. The quality of materials isn't quite the same as the 'name brand' unit I purchased last year for 3x the price, of course, but this one works. The high priced one didn't. And I got two decent quality collars.

The unit I purchased last year arrived defective, was replaced, and the replacement unit lasted about 2-3 weeks. Yes, it was constructed of better materials, but that didn't keep it from sitting on the shelf. I was finally told the (rechargeable) battery had gone bad. I didn't buy one.

I've read the other reviews here that battery life is short on these units, but for the price I would have paid to replace the battery in the more expensive unit I purchased an additional 20 batteries for this unit. More than enough for the training I'll be doing.

For basic training under normal conditions, this unit seems to be a very good deal for the price. If you're not a trainer and you'll only be using this to train your household pet(s), there's really no need to go with the much more expensive units. Packaging is great and the unit works, and for this price I could buy one a year and come out farther ahead than I did with the other systems. You don't always get what you pay for.

I'd have to recommend this unit for the casual trainer...

--------------

Update:

I've been using these collars for about a month now, and have to say they're as good as I thought when I initially received them. Though the quality of construction isn't quite on par with the much more expensive units, I haven't had any trouble with them on two active outdoor dogs.

They continue to work well, and the 3 level shock range is very adequate. At first I was removing the collar batteries when not in use, till I realized there is an automatic shut-off feature if the collar remains motionless for more than two minutes. I don't understand other complaints about battery life. Though they're not rechargeable the collar batteries do last a good length of time, and they're inexpensive and easy to order.

Basically (and what matters most to me), is that I had nothing but problems with more expensive units but have not had one problem with this item. After a month of regular use I'd still have to recommend this product for the casual trainer...

Batteries are expensive and die quick, November 05 ,2009
Don C. Heatherly believes that:
You cant find the batteries to it in the stores, and they are just way too expensive to order online. Its worth buying a more expensive unit with normal batteries, because the batteries that come with it go dead really really quick. Within a week we had gone through all the batteries that came with it.

Worked really well for 3 days., October 23 ,2009
Chris reveals that:
This unit worked really well on my mid sized dogs. But the unit stopped working after 3 DAYS!

Pos.
--------------------------
- Range is really good, I could zap the dog in the back yard from my room on the second floor. (great for when the dog is doing something wrong because he thinks no one is watching)

- I tried it on myself before the dogs. (Yes on my neck) it zings!

- two dog feature is really neat...just mark the remote so you don't zap the wrong dog (ooopps) :(

- comes with two dog collars

- works really well on my midsized dogs

- worked right through the coat

-------------------------
Neg.

- this unit stopped working after 3 days it is Very fragile according to other reviews
- it is slightly bulky but not that heavy
- works on batteries the kind that are in a camera
- There is no "Bark" feature. to zap if dog yaps.
- There is no 'distance' feature that will zap if dog is too far away. similar to a wireless fence.

Customer Experience and Opinions

I'd like to use this on PetSafe customer service -- if it worked, March 12 ,2010
Tazbo (Singapore) suggests that:
The device did not work for long before it stopped functioning entirely. I went through all the troubleshooting steps to no avail.

It has a lifetime warranty -- as long as you don't mind paying a "little" $42.50 service charge for its implementation.

I'm outside the US, so I had to receive my "free" replacement at a friend's address (because PetSafe will not ship overseas) and pay again for it to be forwarded.

I did this twice. Neither of the replacement devices worked, as it was impossible to pair the transmitter with the receiver -- even after PetSafe corrected their additional error of sending me the wrong remote control transmitter the first time.

I now have three non-functioning collar sets (plus a very nice remote control for another device that I don't have), I am down the original purchase price, a $42.50 warranty service charge, forwarded mail cost x 2, and a lot of wasted time for me and my friend in the US.

PetSafe offered nothing to compensate.

Not for an aggressive dog!, March 10 ,2010
Phyllis Zuttermeister (Kendallville, IN. USA) tells us:
We never tried the collar because we decided after reading the instruction manual that we needed to return the collar. The manual says very plainly that it's not to be used on an aggressive dog. Our Chuckie Lee can be aggressive so we decided the collar wasn't for him. I'm only writing to save someone the hassle of ordering this product if their dog is aggressive. We are returning the collar, but are stuck with the extra batteries that we bought. They can't be returned so I suggest trying the collar before buying extra batteries. I'm sure that it's a good product, but it's not for us. We're going to find an animal trainer to help us. Our dog hates our cats and we have lots of them. C. L. is a rescue dog so we don't know his background.

Works as advertised!, March 10 ,2010
Scott K. Simpson (Sacramento, CA USA) reveals:
I bought this device to use with my Welsh Terrier. He would jump on people and bolt out the front door as soon as someone opened it. By using this device, he doesn't do any of that anymore. I just had to use is on him a few times and now, I just give the "off" command and he will not jump up. He will also stay back while the front door is opened. I recommend this for anyone who wants to correct any bad behaviors.
