I bought these collars to deter my 2 dogs from having a barking contest with the neighbor's dogs at our fence. I have 2 minature schnauzers with relatively short hair. Right out of the box the batteries were dead or weak. A trip to the local hardware store for new batteries fixed the first problem. The first time I put on the collars they didn't seem to work. I then made sure they were on fairly snug and that seemed to solve that problem. When they say one finger underneath the collar they mean it. The first time my dogs barked after all the adjustments.....they did get shocked. They both yelped and ran away. I think it was the scare factor at work here. It seemed putting the collars on made them think twice about going to the neighbor side of our yard. But eventually the temptation to run and charge the fence barking became too great and they just learned to ignore the shocks and continue to bark away at our neighbor's dogs. (The collar's little LED light was flashing, so I assume they were delivering the shocks.) I think they worked at first but eventually the "scare" factor wore off on them and the collars didn't seem to deter them very well.

Beware, the description of this product does not mention that it ONLY works with a RF-100 transmitter. Unfortunately this is only revealed after you almost cut your fingers by opening the horrible clam-shell packing and see it written on the reciever. When you have a RF-125 transmitter, like I have, this thing doesn't work. I will have to see if Amazon is willing to refund an opened package.

She barked twice, that was all it took. I felt so bad but is much more humane that the shock collars. She has learned that when I take the collar off she can bark and nothing happends. I plan on leaving the collar on all the time for about a month and maybe she will forget about barking, at nothing. I adopted her, so she could have some baggage, does not like most men, she is two, my other dog, also two but I got her as a puppy and is not a barker. Min Pins, Foxy and Foo double the love!

Thsi actually worked really greatfor us. It's difficult if you have more than one dog though. The otherone always ends up getting sprayed, too.
